Dhaka, Feb 22 (V7N) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged everyone to be more sincere in building a new and prosperous Bangladesh, emphasizing the need for unity and commitment.

He made this statement on Saturday (February 22) at a function at the National Press Club, organized to honor the late journalist Mahfuz Ullah, who was posthumously awarded the Ekushey Padak.

Mirza Fakhrul reflected on the long-standing political struggles against fascism, stating that true change came through the student and mass movements. He urged all citizens to remain united in creating a livable and just society for future generations.

Honoring Mahfuz Ullah, the BNP leader praised his unwavering dedication to journalism, calling him a role model for media professionals in Bangladesh.

At the event, BNP Standing Committee members Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury also paid tribute to Mahfuz Ullah. BNP leaders expressed gratitude to the interim government, led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, for recognizing Mahfuz Ullah’s contributions with the Ekushey Padak.

The event highlighted the importance of free press and democratic values, reinforcing the call for unity in shaping a better future for Bangladesh.
