Dhaka, Feb 26 (V7N)-Chhatra Dal Central President Rakibul Islam Rakib has alleged that Islami Chhatra Shibir orchestrated an attack at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (Kuet) and falsely blamed Chhatra Dal for the incident.
He claimed that Shibir, unable to tarnish Chhatra Dal’s image through other means, resorted to violence and manipulation.
He made these remarks on Wednesday at the seminar hall of Zahir Raihan Auditorium, Jahangirnagar University (JU), during the inauguration of Chhatra Dal’s primary membership distribution and renewal program.
During his speech, Rakibul Islam Rakib accused Shibir of running covert political operations that have led to the oppression of many students.
“Shibir does not believe in Chhatra Dal’s humanitarian and tolerant approach to student politics. Instead, they engage in conspiracies,” he said.
He further alleged that Shibir members had previously infiltrated the Chhatra League and enjoyed privileges in university residential halls while operating their secret political agenda.
“Their activities have resulted in the oppression of numerous students. Who will take responsibility for this?” he questioned.
Rakib also raised concerns over the structure of Shibir’s campus committees, noting that they often consist of only a handful of members.
“At Dhaka University, do you have only 15 activists? At Titumir College, only two? They fail to provide a proper response because they lack the moral courage that Chhatra Dal possesses to openly engage with students,” he asserted.
Referring to the legal representation of Abrar Fahad’s accused killers, Rakibul Islam Rakib pointed fingers at former Shibir president Shishir Monir.
“We consider Abrar Fahad a symbol of our resistance against imperialism. Yet, Shishir Monir, a former Shibir leader, is reportedly defending his killers in court. If this is true, Shibir must take responsibility and answer for their actions,” he said.
