Dhaka, Mar 01 (V7N) –BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Zainul Abdin Farroque has emphasized the necessity of a national parliamentary election to resolve Bangladesh’s internal crises.
He said that unless such an election is held, the conspiracies orchestrated by Sheikh Hasina’s allies will continue to affect the country.

Farroque made this statement during a protest rally organized by the Jatiya Ganotantrik Party (JAGPA) in front of the National Press Club on Saturday.

The demonstration was held to protest against "the soaring prices of essential goods and the deteriorating law and order situation across the country."

Addressing the gathering, Farroque said: “The larger issues surrounding local elections and the unresolved problems of the past 16 years cannot be tackled overnight. Only necessary reforms should be implemented.”

He also highlighted the emergence of a new political party in Bangladesh, saying: “We have witnessed how they mobilized students and the public from the platform of the July Revolution. They played a role in resisting the fascist Sheikh Hasina government. On behalf of the nationalist party and JAGPA, we extend our congratulations to them.”

Farroque further said: “We must acknowledge the contributions of Tarique Rahman in inspiring the youth in Bangladesh’s politics. The solutions to the country's problems lie in his leadership. We welcome the new political party for their unwavering stance in favor of democracy and for the sacrifices they have made in fighting against Hasina’s rule. However, efforts are being made once again to suppress these hard-earned rights. To counter such conspiracies, holding a national election is the only way forward.”

The rally was presided over by JAGPA President and freedom fighter Khondker Lutfar Rahman and conducted by General Secretary Zakir Hossain Riaz. Several leaders from the nationalist alliance and other political parties also spoke at the event.
