Dhaka, Mar 04 (V7N) – Leaders of the newly formed National Citizens Party (NCP) visited the graves of the martyrs of the 2024 uprising and held prayers at the Rayerbazar massacre site in Dhaka, marking the official beginning of their political activities.
On Tuesday morning, a delegation led by NCP convener Md. Nahid Islam and member secretary Akhtar Hossain arrived at the Rayerbazar site around 10 AM to honor those who sacrificed their lives. Earlier, at approximately 8 AM, party leaders and activists also paid tribute at the National Memorial.
As part of their inaugural events, the NCP will hold an introductory meeting of its executive committee at the central office at 3 PM today. The meeting, led by convener Md. Nahid Islam and member secretary Akhtar Hossain, will bring together central committee members to discuss the party's roadmap and organizational structure.
The National Citizens Party is set to officially launch its political journey with a mass rally at Manik Mia Avenue on the afternoon of February 28. The party has already outlined its vision for a "new republic" and a fresh constitution, signaling its ambition to bring systemic changes to Bangladesh’s political landscape.
With its early programs focused on honoring past movements and advocating for structural reforms, the NCP's entry into politics is expected to shape upcoming political discourse.
