Dhaka, Mar 26 (V7N) -BNP today expressed disappointment over Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus's speech yesterday, citing the absence of a clear election roadmap.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir voiced frustration that Yunus did not outline a plan for elections or mention party founder and former President Ziaur Rahman.

"I am deeply disappointed with the chief adviser's speech. He did not address the election roadmap. We expect the interim government to implement necessary reforms and announce the roadmap without delay," Fakhrul said while paying tribute in Savar this morning.

"We are also disappointed that he did not mention Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman (Bir Uttam), the proclaimer of independence. We do not want history to be distorted, as the Awami League has done before," he added.

Calling the chief adviser's statement "vague," Fakhrul said, "December to June is six months—this is not a roadmap. We have repeatedly demanded a clear timeline and swift elections. Without that, the ongoing crisis will not be resolved."

He reiterated that BNP's demand for elections was not about gaining power but about protecting national interests.

"BNP is calling for elections in the interest of the nation, to safeguard our independence and sovereignty," he said.
