Dhaka, Apr 08 (V7N) – Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has organized nationwide protests to denounce the ongoing violence and genocide against Palestinians by the Israeli forces. The protests are being held at various educational institutions across the country, with a major gathering at Dhaka University.
On Tuesday (April 8), Chhatra Dal leaders and activists from different units of the capital converged in front of the Raju Statue at Dhaka University, where they staged a common program to show solidarity with the Palestinian people. The protesters demanded that Israel be declared a terrorist state and called for a boycott of Israeli products, using slogans on Facebook to spread their message.
In a joint statement released on Monday (April 7), Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir condemned Israel’s brutal attacks in Gaza and Rafah, which have resulted in the martyrdom of thousands of innocent Palestinians. The statement highlighted Israel's indiscriminate violence, with children, women, and the elderly being among the victims. The leaders expressed disappointment over the international community’s lack of action, calling it a silent stance in the face of genocide.
As part of their protest, students across Bangladesh wore black cloths over their faces at 10:30 am on Tuesday, symbolizing mourning for the victims of Israeli violence. At 12:00 noon, they gathered in the central square of their respective cities to participate in joint protest rallies.
Meanwhile, the violence in Gaza continues. Al Jazeera reported on Tuesday that 60 more Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks in the last 24 hours. In a fresh attack on northern Gaza City, five more people lost their lives in an Israeli airstrike, as the Israeli military disregarded ceasefire agreements and escalated its bombardment. Heavy war vehicles, including fighter jets, have been deployed in various parts of Gaza, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
