Dhaka, Apr 19 (V7N)- Former military officer Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Dr. Chowdhury Hasan Sarwardy has officially joined the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), along with more than 500 individuals from various professions, including retired military personnel and bureaucrats.

The joining ceremony took place on Saturday at the Engineers Institute, Ramna in the capital. LDP President Dr. Col. Oli Ahmed Bir Bikram (Retd.) welcomed Lt. Gen. Sarwardy to the party by presenting him with a bouquet of flowers.

The event was presided over by LDP Secretary General Dr. Redwan Ahmed, a former minister and multiple-time Member of Parliament. Col. Oli Ahmed, who served as the chief guest, praised Sarwardy's decision to join the party, calling it a significant step towards strengthening LDP’s movement for democratic reform.

With the inclusion of high-profile figures like Sarwardy and his followers, the LDP hopes to rejuvenate its political presence and broaden its support base across professional and civil society circles.
