Natore, Apr 19 (V7N)- BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has expressed optimism that a free, fair, and participatory election will be held under the current interim government. He remarked that during the Awami League’s rule, Sheikh Hasina had pushed the concept of elections into the museum, and now, the people are relying on Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus to restore electoral democracy.
Rizvi made these comments while addressing a seminar titled “Freedom-Sovereignty and Multi-Party Democracy and Ziaur Rahman” organized by Zia Parishad at the Natore District Council Auditorium on Saturday (April 19) afternoon.
“The people have placed their trust in Dr. Yunus to bring elections out of the museum and return it to the people,” Rizvi said.
However, he also cautioned that uncertainty about the election timeline, whether it's December, June, or March, could weaken public confidence. “Such ambiguity only diminishes the people's trust,” he added.
Rizvi further warned that internal misunderstandings or divisions among pro-democracy forces could give fascism an opportunity to reemerge, which would be harmful to the country’s democracy, sovereignty, and future.
Earlier in the day, BNP leaders and activists held a rally in the town. Among others present were BNP Executive Committee Members Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, Kazi Golam Morshed, and Zia Parishad Central Secretary General Professor Dr. Md. Emtaz Hossain, along with several local leaders and activists.
