Dhaka, May 03 (V7N) – Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh has alleged that imperialist forces, including India, are attempting to turn Bangladesh into a geopolitical battleground, calling for strong national unity and religious solidarity to resist such threats.
The statement came from Azizul Haque Islamadi, Joint Secretary General of Hefazat, who read out a written speech on behalf of Amir Allama Shah Muhibullah Babunagari during a large-scale rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday (May 3).
The rally, attended by thousands and led by top leaders and prominent Ulama-e-Keram, featured sharp criticism of the Women’s Affairs Reform Commission, labeling it as contrary to Islamic principles. Hefazat leaders warned the interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus not to repeat the “mistakes of Sheikh Hasina” by implementing policies they deem anti-Islamic.
Four-Point Demands of Hefazat-e-Islam:
-
Immediate cancellation of the Women’s Affairs Reform Commission and its report.
-
Restoration of full trust and faith in Allah in the Constitution, rejecting the concept of constitutional pluralism.
-
Withdrawal of all cases against Hefazat leaders and activists, and trial of all genocides, including the alleged Shapla Chattar massacre of 2013.
-
Government action to stop the Muslim genocide and oppression in Palestine and India.
Speakers at the rally declared that Hefazat-e-Islam is ready to sacrifice lives to protect the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh but would not tolerate any move that contradicts the Quran and Sunnah.
Criticizing the Women’s Reform Commission, leaders claimed its recommendations are “unclear” and “against Islamic teachings.” They threatened stronger resistance if the report is implemented, including a “March to Dhaka” program.
Mufti Fakhrul Islam, speaking at the rally, said, “We were tortured, we were imprisoned, yet our cases remain. This so-called reform report is an insult to 180 million Muslims.”
Maulana Mamunul Haque, Joint Secretary General of Hefazat, warned against what he called the “rehabilitation of fascist forces” and vowed resistance.
In conclusion, the Secretary General of Hefazat-e-Islam announced a nationwide protest on May 23 to press home their demands.
