Dhaka, Jun 06 (V7N) – BNP leader and former mayoral candidate Ishraq Hossain has declared that no unelected advisor or administrator will be allowed to assume control of city hall. He stated that, if necessary, a "revolutionary city council" will be formed with former councilors and local educational heads to run the Dhaka City Corporation.

He made these remarks while visiting the National Eidgah Maidan at the High Court premises on Friday afternoon (June 6) to inspect the preparations ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, which will be celebrated nationwide on Saturday (June 7).

“I have come here as an elected mayor and based on the decision of the Supreme Court. This is my duty,” said Ishraq. “Again, I will be in the field with those who will be doing the cleaning work on Eid.”

Criticizing the advisory council of the interim government, he said, “They have lost their impartiality. Fair elections are not possible under this council.”

Despite his criticism, Ishraq expressed gratitude to the officials and staff of the Dhaka South City Corporation and the law enforcement agencies for their dedicated efforts in preparing the National Eidgah for the holy festival.
