Dhaka, 02 July (V7N)- Jubo Dal Dhaka District unit President Yasin Ferdous Murad had said that the Awami League deprived the people of their voting rights for 17 long years. He alleged that certain quarters are now trying to delay or sabotage the upcoming elections in an attempt to once again deny the public their right to vote. "But this time, no one will be given that opportunity. All conspiracies will be resisted," he declared.

Murad made these remarks on Wednesday during separate views-exchange meetings with leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations at Jadhabpur and Ganguti Unions under Dhamrai Upazila. Both meetings were held at the respective local Union Parishad offices.

Murad said, "As you know, BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman recently held an important meeting in London with Chief Adviser Dr. Yunus. In that meeting, a framework for a neutral election was outlined. Since then, some parties have lost their minds and started speaking irrationally—as if they've lost something very dear."

Addressing the local activists, he added, “The only path to restoring democracy is through elections. Those who claim that the mass movement wasn’t solely for elections are trying to mislead the public. We must raise awareness among the people about this.”

The meeting at Jadhabpur Union was presided over by former Union BNP General Secretary Altaf Hossain. Other speakers included M.A. Jalil, Khandaker Abu Taher Mukut, Khandaker Aiyub, Ansar Ali, Enayet Hossain, Shahidur Rahman Shahid, Lecturer Azad, Ibadul Haque Zahid, Shahjahan Hossain Shipu, Ismail Hossain Sumon, among others.
