Basail, July 4 (V7N) — Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan, Vice Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) National Executive Committee, has warned that so-called "hybrid politics" has disrupted Bangladesh's democratic progress and frustrated its people. He stated that the BNP is fully aware of such political manipulation and will not allow hybrid elements to enter the party.

He made the remarks on Friday afternoon while speaking to journalists during a courtesy meeting with Sanatan religious leaders and activists in his electoral constituency of Basail, Tangail.

Local leaders present at the event included Nikhil Kumar Ratan, President of the Basail Upazila chapter of the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council; Gouranga Mohan Sarkar, President of the Upazila Puja Celebration Committee; Swapan Kumar, its General Secretary; and Bhajan Kumar Biswas, General Secretary of the Hindu Welfare Council. Leaders from the local BNP were also in attendance, including Acting President of the Upazila BNP Mamun Al Jahangir, General Secretary Nur Nabi Abu Hayat Khan Nobu, Municipal BNP President Akhtaruzzaman Tuhin, General Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Pintu, and BRDB Chairman Yusuf Ali Khan.

In his remarks, Khan criticized opposition parties for allegedly attempting to delay the upcoming elections using various pretexts. “Some are proposing proportional representation systems, others are calling for reforms or using legal arguments—all as tactics to postpone the election,” he said.

“Delaying the election means delaying Bangladesh’s progress, industrial growth, and prosperity,” he added. “I urge all political parties to return to the field. If the people do not support you now, they might in the future. But disrupting the democratic process is not acceptable.”

He concluded by instructing BNP members to support members of the Sanatan community in times of need, reaffirming the party's commitment to religious harmony and inclusiveness.
