Dhaka, Aug 08 (V7N) – BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has assured that no anti-Sharia law will be enacted in Bangladesh if the BNP assumes power.
He made the statement Thursday evening following a meeting between Bangladesh Jamiatul Modarrechin and the BNP Liaison Committee.
Salahuddin emphasized that while the BNP wants to see the expansion of madrassa education, it does not support turning madrassas into a partisan political platform.
“We have already engaged in discussions with all — political, non-political, and Islamist groups,” he said. “I have met the Naib of Hefazat-e-Islam, visited Hathazari Madrasa, met Sharshina Pir, and spoken to all the senior figures of the Alia tradition.”
Highlighting the party’s broader vision, he added, “Our objective is clear — we want unity, integration, and governance that brings together all the people of Bangladesh without creating divisions.”
