Dhaka, Aug 09 (V7N) – Barrister Asaduzzaman Bhuiyan Fuad, General Secretary of the Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party, has welcomed the recent July Declaration, stating that the 24th has been shortened by beginning the declaration with the Awami League’s statement.

He made the remarks during a briefing at the party’s office in Bijoynagar, Dhaka, on Saturday (August 9).

On reforms, Fuad emphasized the urgent need to implement the agreed issues. He asserted that, according to Article 7(a) of the Constitution, all members of the Consensus Commission are traitors unless the July Charter is legally enforced. “A proclamation must be issued after discussions with all parties. Otherwise, many leaders will face severe consequences,” he warned.

Regarding the upcoming elections, the AB Party leader expressed doubt about the Election Commission’s ability to conduct free and fair polls. “We are not satisfied with the pace at which the commission is operating. As the elections approach, election-related violence is expected to rise,” he said. However, he did not oppose the election schedule.

Fuad also noted that many officials appointed by the Awami League still remain in the administration.
