Dhaka, Aug 16 (V7N) – BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has warned that any controversial election will drive Bangladesh towards an uncertain future. He also accused those attempting to delay the polls through various excuses of undermining democracy.

He made the remarks on Saturday at a prayer meeting and discussion organized by Jubo Dal at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan, marking the 81st birth anniversary of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

Salahuddin said that under Khaleda Zia’s guidance, BNP is pursuing the path of democracy through dialogue and discussion. “In order to build a truly democratic state, the anti-fascist force must transform into national unity,” he stated.

Issuing a stern warning, the BNP leader added, “The people of the country will stand against those who are making excuses to delay the election. Those who obstruct the journey of democracy with different arguments are not the strength of democracy.”
