Dhaka, Aug 16 (V7N) – BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has alleged that communal forces, along with the defeated Awami League, are conspiring to foil the upcoming election. He urged everyone to remain vigilant against such moves.

He made the remarks on Saturday afternoon while addressing a discussion meeting at Shahjahanpur Railway Alia Hafizia Madrasa.

Gayeshwar said that neither the government nor the Election Commission can ensure a free, fair and impartial election on their own. “The goodwill of political parties willing to participate is essential. Conspiracies are ongoing regarding the election, and until the results are declared, we cannot be certain about its fairness,” he remarked.

Highlighting years of political oppression, the BNP leader said, “The people of the country have been oppressed for the past 17 years. Begum Khaleda Zia has also been subjected to inhuman torture – they tried to kill her bit by bit. All of this was done to destroy democracy.”

He further vowed that if BNP comes to power, it will hold trials for all killings committed during the Awami League’s tenure.
