Dhaka, Aug 18 (V7N) – BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has stated that fair elections cannot be held under the current Awami League-era administration.
Rizvi made the remarks while paying homage to the tomb of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, on Monday morning. The visit was organized by the newly formed BNP committee of Nilphamari district.
He emphasized that free and fair elections are scheduled for February and called for the removal of Awami League cadres from the administration to ensure impartiality.
Commenting on the proportional representation (PR) system, Rizvi said the public is not ready for it and expressed concerns about the motives of those advocating for PR-based voting.
Regarding the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections, he expressed hope that all voices would be represented and stressed that a fair environment in education is possible if student representatives are active in the university.
