Dhaka, Aug 25 (V7N) – Advocate Fazlur Rahman, advisor to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, has stated that he will not compromise on the principles of the Liberation War. “I have been speaking against Jamaat since the day they started speaking against the Liberation War,” he said while briefing journalists at the High Court premises on Monday.
Fazlur Rahman alleged that he has been targeted for assassination from abroad. “Today, a mob formed in front of my house and raised slogans to kill me. As a freedom fighter and lawyer, I have the right to live in this country with full dignity. But slogans were being raised to take my life. They are all Jamaat members,” he said.
He emphasized that he is unafraid of death but will not accept an unjust killing. “O people of Bangladesh, is unjust death desirable in the country for which I fought 54 years ago?”
Fazlur Rahman claimed that two YouTubers demanded his death and that Jamaat members suggested he be killed by slitting his throat.
Regarding the controversy over his alleged remarks on August 5, he asserted that he did not say “black power” and expressed readiness to apologize for any wrongdoing if proven. He also stated that he would respond to his party’s show-cause notice in due course.
