Dhaka, Sept 2 (V7N) – Islami Chatra Shibir has issued a strong statement denouncing what it terms as a false and politically motivated smear campaign initiated by Chatra Dal. The statement comes in response to allegations suggesting that a member of Shibir’s Dhaka University unit was involved in making an indecent and derogatory comment about a female student on Facebook.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, Shibir’s central president, Zahidul Islam, expressed deep outrage at what he described as “a deliberate and vile attempt” to defame the organization by associating it with a social media user who posted inappropriate remarks about a female student.
“The accusation is entirely unfounded and part of a larger effort to tarnish the image of Islami Chatra Shibir and mislead the public,” said Zahidul Islam. “We categorically deny any connection between the individual in question and our organization.”
Shibir stated that the student responsible for the offensive post has no affiliation with their organization, either currently or in the past. The group also claimed that this is not the first time their name has been used in what they say is a deliberate political tactic to discredit them.
The central leadership of Islami Chatra Shibir warned that they would take necessary legal and organizational measures if such false propaganda continues. They called upon political opponents and social media users to act responsibly, especially when dealing with sensitive issues involving women and educational institutions.
Shibir also reiterated its commitment to ethical conduct and respect for women, adding that any violation of moral standards is against the values they uphold as a student organization.
No official response from Chatra Dal was available at the time of publishing this report.
This development comes amid heightened political tensions on university campuses, where student organizations often accuse each other of misconduct and misrepresentation. The incident has triggered debates online about accountability, digital ethics, and the role of political student groups in upholding respectful discourse.
