Khulna, Oct 03 (V7N) – Jamaat-e-Islami has announced that it may relinquish up to 100 seats in the upcoming national elections if it reaches an agreement with like-minded political parties. The statement was made by the party’s Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar.

Golam Parwar spoke at a Chhatra Shibir member reunion program held at the Al Farooq Society Complex in Khulna on Friday afternoon. He said that Jamaat has prepared to contest all 300 parliamentary seats, but efforts are underway to form alliances with compatible parties.

“If there is unity among like-minded parties, we may have to give up about 100 seats. However, Jamaat will contest in at least 200 constituencies,” he said.

Golam Parwar also clarified that the seats given up would likely be those where Jamaat has a slim chance of winning or has never contested before. He added that in cases where candidates believe they are more popular in other constituencies, voter lists may be transferred accordingly.

The program was attended by local Chhatra Shibir members, Jamaat leaders, and activists, who joined the discussions on party strategy and election preparedness.
