Dhaka, Sep 20 (V7N) – Revolutionary Workers Party General Secretary Saiful Haque has criticized remarks such as “No elections will be allowed without PR,” calling them authoritarian in tone and comparable to the rhetoric of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He made the remarks while addressing a rally and march organized by the Dhaka Metropolitan Committee at Paltan More in the capital on Saturday morning.

Haque said that the people expect visible reforms in the judicial system ahead of the next national elections, but the interim government has so far failed to make tangible progress. “The implementation of the July Charter is still stuck at the discussion table,” he added.

He also cautioned that the reform process must not be derailed by imposing partisan agendas. Disruption of the upcoming elections, he warned, could push the country from fragile stability into deeper political anarchy.

Terming the February elections an “important milestone” in the nation’s democratic transition, Haque emphasized that no party should be allowed to endanger the country’s democratic future for its own agenda.
