Dhaka, Oct 04 (V7N) – BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has called for the disclosure of the actual role of those Jamaat-e-Islami leaders who are reportedly agitating and speaking about their participation in the 12th National Parliamentary Elections of 2024.

He made the remarks while addressing a discussion program marking the 37th founding anniversary of the National Democratic Party (NDP) held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in the capital on Saturday (October 4).

Salahuddin Ahmed said that the political activities and movements of Jamaat and other parties on various issues, including proportional representation (PR), are part of democratic practices. However, he emphasized that it is the people who will ultimately decide whose manifesto and political agenda they will accept.

The senior BNP leader further warned that those agitating for PR to create instability in politics are attempting to delay or sabotage the election process, adding that any movement aimed at misleading the people would be counterproductive.

At the same event, Salahuddin Ahmed condemned the Israeli attack on the Gaza-bound aid flotilla and urged the United Nations to play a responsible and proactive role in ensuring justice and peace in the region.
