Chittagong, Nov 05 (V7N) — Ershad Ullah, the BNP-nominated candidate for Chittagong-8, was shot in the leg by miscreants during a public meeting in the Hamzarbagh area under Bayzid police station on Wednesday evening.

He was immediately admitted to a private hospital in Dhaka for treatment. Two others, including Sarwar Babla, were also injured; sources say Sarwar’s condition is critical.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers opened fire suddenly during the meeting, creating panic among the attendees.

Ershad Ullah has been actively involved in BNP politics for many years and currently serves as the convener of Chittagong Metropolitan BNP. The area has remained tense following the incident.
