Dhaka, Nov 13 (V7N)- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the elected parliament must discuss the demands of the people and move forward toward specific national goals. He also emphasized the need to evaluate how acceptable the issues imposed through the July Charter will be to the general public.
He made the remarks while speaking at an election dialogue titled “National Parliament Election 2026: The Need for National Unity” held at a hotel in the capital on Thursday (November 13) afternoon.
Mirza Fakhrul said there might be disagreements with the statement of Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, noting that the concept of Proportional Representation (PR) is not easily understandable to ordinary citizens. He added that a people’s elected parliament should be established through elections at the earliest possible time.
Meanwhile, BNP Standing Committee Member Hafizuddin Ahmed said the National Consensus Commission had complicated several matters and seemed intent on dictating what the next parliament should do. He stressed that the people must have confidence in those they elect.
