Tangail, Nov 14 (V7N) – Krishak Sramik Janata League founding president Bangabir Abdul Quader Siddiqui Bir Uttam criticized the arrest of individuals for raising the slogan ‘Joy Bangla,’ calling it unacceptable and warning that unilateral government actions are detrimental to the country’s politics and society.
He made the remarks while speaking to reporters after visiting his parents’ graves, following the release on bail of his elder brother, former minister and Awami League presidium member Abdul Latif Siddiqui, at their residence in Kalihati upazila on Friday afternoon.
Bangabir Siddiqui said, “Some actions may be tolerable for two or three months, but what is happening now is completely one-sided. Arresting someone for saying ‘Joy Bangla’ goes against the spirit of the country. There was no resistance when Bangabandhu’s statue was demolished—are those one-sided or two-sided? The people understand.”
He also expressed gratitude toward Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, noting her recognition of Professor Muhammad Yunus, which the public came to appreciate later.
Former minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui added, “Since 1972, freedom fighters have been neglected, humiliated, and ignored. What is happening today is the result of that long neglect.” Former MP Laila Siddiqui and local leaders and activists of the Krishak Sramik Janata League were present at the time.
