Dhaka, Nov 16 (V7N) – BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has paid tribute to Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani on his 49th death anniversary, hailing him as a lasting source of inspiration for the party and the nation.

In a message on Sunday, Tarique Rahman said, “Maulana Bhashani will always inspire us to fight for the just rights of the helpless, and to protect democracy, human rights, freedom, and national sovereignty.”

He added, “Maulana Bhashani’s immense patriotism will continue to motivate us to safeguard the interests of the country and protest against enemies of democracy and humanity. Following his ideals correctly is the key to achieving our desired goals.”

Tarique Rahman recalled Maulana Bhashani’s historic leadership, describing him as “an unforgettable name in our national history, a proverbial fighter against imperialism, colonialism, and hegemony, who provided unwavering guidance to the oppressed people of the subcontinent, beginning with the anti-British movement.”

Highlighting his role in Bangladesh’s liberation and democratic movements, Tarique Rahman said, “Maulana Bhashani was a beacon in the struggle for independence, the democratic movement, and the fight for the just rights of peasants and workers. He stood firmly against exploitation and for the exploited.”

He concluded, “Through his fearless leadership, Maulana Bhashani empowered the people to claim their rights. His voice once shook the halls of oppressive rulers and exploiting groups, earning the trust and confidence of the nation during its most difficult times.”
