Dhaka, Nov 29 (V7N) — Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna has said that preparations are being made to take BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to Singapore or Europe for advanced medical treatment. However, her current physical condition does not yet allow her to travel by air.
Manna shared the information while speaking to reporters after visiting the critically ill Khaleda Zia at Evercare Hospital in the capital on Saturday.
He said that doctors have not expressed much optimism regarding her condition but urged the nation to pray for her recovery. “The situation remains as critical as yesterday—there has been no improvement or deterioration,” Manna added.
Khaleda Zia, nearly 80 years old and suffering from multiple chronic illnesses, was admitted to the hospital again on November 23 with a lung infection and heart complications. She is currently receiving treatment in the CCU, under the constant supervision of a medical board comprising local and foreign specialists.
In a recent press release, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman stated that the medical team from home and abroad is providing the highest level of care with utmost sincerity and professionalism. He also noted that several friendly nations have expressed willingness to provide all possible support, including advanced treatment options.
