Dhaka, Dec 12 (V7N) — BNP standing committee member and Dhaka-8 constituency candidate Mirza Abbas rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Friday afternoon after learning about the shooting of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson and independent candidate Sharif Osman Hadi.

Earlier, at around 2:15 pm, Hadi was shot by an unidentified assailant in front of the Bijoynagar water tank in the capital.

According to a colleague accompanying Hadi, he was travelling by rickshaw towards Suhrawardy Udyan after exchanging greetings with locals following Jumma prayers. Suddenly, an unknown gunman arrived on a motorcycle and fired at Hadi. The bullet struck him below his left ear, near the jaw.

Party leaders and activists rescued him in a critical condition and rushed him to DMCH. Doctors later informed that Hadi required four bags of blood, which were promptly arranged by his supporters.

An eyewitness said Hadi was still in the rickshaw when miscreants on two motorcycles approached and opened fire. He began bleeding immediately and was taken to the hospital in the same rickshaw.

Meanwhile, news of the attack has drawn crowds to Dhaka Medical College, where leaders and activists from multiple political parties have gathered. Condemnations and calls for justice have also been pouring in across social media.
