Dhaka, Dec 25 (V7N)- BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is returning to Bangladesh today after a long 17 years in exile. He is accompanied by his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman and their daughter, Barrister Jaima Rahman.
According to reliable sources, Tarique Rahman and his family are traveling on Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ regular commercial flight BJ-202. Data from the world’s leading flight-tracking website Flightradar24 shows that the aircraft has already entered Bangladesh’s airspace.
The flight carrying Tarique Rahman is expected to land shortly at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet. Aviation and BNP sources said the aircraft will make a one-hour stopover there before continuing its journey.
After departing Sylhet, the flight is scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka between 11:45 am and 12:00 noon on Thursday.
Shortly after entering the country’s airspace on Thursday morning, Tarique Rahman shared a post on social media platform Facebook. In the post, he wrote: “After a long 6,314 days in the sky of Bangladesh.”
According to party sources, following his arrival in Dhaka, Tarique Rahman will proceed to the July 36 Expressway (300 Feet area) in Purbachal to express his gratitude to the people. He will later visit Evercare Hospital to see his mother, former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Tarique Rahman’s return is being closely watched as a significant political development, drawing attention from both political circles and the general public.
