Dhaka, Dec 25 (V7N)- BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman returned to Bangladesh on Thursday after 17 years, as the aircraft carrying him landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:40 am.
Upon arrival, Tarique Rahman exchanged greetings with senior leaders of the party, creating an emotional atmosphere at the airport. He was received by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and several members of the party’s Standing Committee.
Those present included Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas, Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, Selima Rahman, Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin, and Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku.
After meeting with the senior party leaders, Tarique Rahman also met his mother-in-law, Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu, who welcomed him with flowers.
Tarique Rahman’s return after nearly two decades has been marked by widespread attention and strong emotional reactions among party leaders and supporters, reflecting the political significance of the moment.
