Dhaka, Dec 25 (V7N)- BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has left the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport area under tight security and is heading toward the reception venue at the July 36 Expressway (300 Feet area) in Purbachal.

Tarique Rahman is traveling in a red-and-green bus branded “Bangladesh First”, which is moving slowly due to the large crowds gathered along the route. As the convoy departed the airport, he was seen waving to the people from the bus, acknowledging supporters who lined the roads.

Before leaving the airport premises, Tarique Rahman performed a symbolic gesture by removing his shoes, stepping on the soil of the country, and taking a handful of soil in his hand, drawing an emotional response from those present.

Earlier, Tarique Rahman arrived at the airport accompanied by his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman and their daughter Zaima Rahman. They were received by family members and senior BNP leaders based in Dhaka.

The journey toward Purbachal is taking place amid heightened security, as large numbers of BNP leaders, activists, and supporters continue to gather to mark Tarique Rahman’s return to the country after 17 years.
