Dhaka, Dec 29 (V7N) — BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is currently under close medical observation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Evercare Hospital in the capital, where she is being treated under the supervision of a specialized medical board.

Her personal physician, Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, has sought prayers for Khaleda Zia on behalf of the BNP and her family, urging the nation to pray for her recovery.

Khaleda Zia has been undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital since November 23. Earlier on Saturday night, Dr. Zahid Hossain, who is also a member of the medical board and a BNP leader, said that the former prime minister was going through a critical phase.

According to doctors, her physical condition has remained unchanged, and medical teams are continuing intensive efforts to manage a hospital-acquired infection, which has developed due to her prolonged stay at the hospital.

Meanwhile, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman visited Evercare Hospital on Sunday night to inquire about Khaleda Zia’s condition and to receive updates from the attending physicians.

Doctors said they are making every possible effort to stabilize her condition and continue treatment in line with the medical board’s decisions.
