Dhaka, Dec 30 (V7N) – Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will arrive in Dhaka on Wednesday to attend the funeral of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and pay his final respects.

Earlier in the day, Ishaq Dar expressed deep sorrow over Khaleda Zia’s death. In a condolence message posted on X (formerly Twitter), he prayed for the eternal peace of her soul and conveyed heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.

According to the BNP, Khaleda Zia’s funeral prayer will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban grounds and Manik Mia Avenue. The prayer will be led by the Khatib of the National Mosque, Baitul Mukarram. Following the funeral, she will be buried with state honors beside her late husband, martyred President Ziaur Rahman.

Begum Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister and a pivotal figure in Bangladesh’s political history, passed away at 6 am on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'un). She was 80 years old at the time of her death.

Her eldest son and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, along with other close family members, were present at the hospital during her final moments.
