Comilla, Jan 02 (V7N) – Hasnat Abdullah, the candidate for Comilla-4 constituency and the main organizer of the southern region of the National Coordination Party (NCP), has expressed concerns over the impartiality of the administration in the upcoming election, alleging favoritism towards BNP.
Speaking to reporters after the scrutiny of nomination papers at the Comilla District Returning Officer’s office on Friday (January 2), Hasnat Abdullah said, “The administration seems to have leaned towards the BNP. We are concerned about how impartial and fair the election can be with the administration’s double-dealing behavior.”
His nomination papers were declared valid by the District Returning Officer M. Reza Hasan. During the scrutiny, Hasnat Abdullah and his lawyer accused BNP candidate Manjurul Ahsan Munshi of concealing information in his affidavit, leading to a half-hour-long argument. The Returning Officer advised both parties to follow the legal process and file complaints as per election rules.
Hasnat Abdullah further stated that despite presenting sufficient evidence and arguments, concerns remain about administrative bias. He alleged that one of the BNP candidates concealed personal information, including bank default history and a High Court stay order, which could be grounds for disqualification under election rules.
After the verification process, both Hasnat Abdullah and Manjurul Ahsan Munshi paid a courtesy call.
