Dhaka, Jan 12 (V7N) — Shamim Haider Patwary, Secretary General of the Jatiya Party (JP), has said that the country is not yet feeling the election mood and that there is panic among voters. He urged the government to take steps to address the situation and boost public confidence ahead of the 13th National Parliament election.

Shamim Haider Patwary was attending an appeal hearing at the Election Commission (EC) regarding the Returning Officer's decision to declare the nomination papers of his party's candidates invalid. Speaking to the media after Monday’s session, he said that 25 appeals of JP candidates had been heard over the last three days, with 21 appeals approved. The remaining four appeals will be taken to the High Court.

He also emphasized the need to increase awareness about the upcoming referendum and suggested that voting hours be extended by an additional hour to facilitate greater participation.
