Comilla, Jan 28 (V7N) — National Citizen Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan has promised that if an 11-party coalition government is formed in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election, the Comilla division will see rapid development within a month.
Speaking at an NCP election roadshow at Muktijuddho Chattar in the New Market area of Debidwar Sadar, Comilla, on Wednesday afternoon, Asif said that the deprivation faced by Comilla over the years would be addressed. He added that projects initiated during the interim government would be implemented quickly, alongside additional new projects.
Asif also criticized the current nomination process, saying that despite hopes for participatory and fair elections, there had been bias in validating the nominations of defaulters and foreign citizens. He alleged that candidates with foreign citizenship were being given nominations while discussions of nationalism were emphasized.
Earlier, at a separate rally in Debidwar, he commented on political leadership in the country, stating: “You were in London for 17 years, get off the bus first. Walk a little on the streets of Bangladesh, get to know this country first. Then we can trust whether you can do something for the people of this country or not.”
He further said that after 17 years of dictatorship and oppression, the people are now facing a new kind of oppression, with one party attempting to dominate the population once again.
The NCP’s campaign in Comilla emphasized both regional development and a call for transparent and fair elections.
