Dhaka, Jan 31 (V7N) — Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has taken extensive preparations across the country to ensure overall security ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum.
The preparations aim to ensure that voters can exercise their voting rights in a safe, peaceful and uninterrupted environment at polling stations nationwide.
According to sources, more than 37,000 BGB members will be deployed across the country to keep Bangladesh’s 4,427-kilometer border fully secure during the election period.
BGB will perform election duties in 489 of the country’s 495 upazilas. In addition, the force will independently conduct election duties in 61 border upazilas, considering their security sensitivity.
To address potential risks, BGB will be deployed as both mobile and static forces in all 300 parliamentary constituencies across the country. It is expected that two to four platoons of BGB members will be deployed in each upazila.
Sources further said that BGB’s Rapid Action Teams and Quick Response Forces, including helicopter support, will remain on standby to respond swiftly to any emergency situation during the elections.
To further strengthen security arrangements, specialized K-9 Dog Squad units will also be deployed at key locations.
The comprehensive security plan reflects the government’s effort to ensure a peaceful, orderly and credible electoral process during the upcoming national polls and referendum.
