Dhaka, Feb 13 (V7N) — Nazrul Islam Khan has praised the peaceful conduct of the 13th National Parliament elections, noting that unlike previous elections, there were no major casualties or unwanted incidents.
Speaking to reporters at the Election Commission building on Friday (February 13), Nazrul Islam Khan highlighted the historic win of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) alliance, which secured more than two-thirds of the parliamentary seats. He expressed gratitude to the people for their active participation, saying, “The people have given their verdict, gratitude to the people. The habit of not voting had been formed by people not voting. I hope that in the future we can make people more election-oriented.”
He further remarked on the significance of the day, stating, “Today is a significant day in the history of Bangladesh, because the people of the country have given the tested force of democracy, BNP, the responsibility of running the state. BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will express his gratitude to the people in this regard.”
Commenting on the election results, Nazrul Islam Khan added that while not all candidates won, the party’s performance will improve in future contests.
