Tangail, April 14 (V7N) — BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is deeply committed to the development of rural areas and farmers, following the legacy of former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

He made the remarks while inaugurating the “Farmer Card” program at Shaheed Maruf Stadium in Tangail on Tuesday (April 14).

Rizvi said Tarique Rahman’s vision for agriculture is not new, claiming that he has been sharing development plans for rural Bangladesh for the past 8–9 years. He added that the pace of implementation of these initiatives reflects a continuation of Ziaur Rahman’s leadership ideals.

Referring to the past, Rizvi said Bangladesh achieved strong export performance during Ziaur Rahman’s rule. He expressed optimism that, through modern agricultural initiatives under Tarique Rahman’s leadership, Bangladesh could once again become self-sufficient in food production, despite having to import rice during the previous Awami League government period.
