Dhaka, May 02 (V7N)- Prime Minister’s political advisor and BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan has said that the current government, like the Awami League in the past, will not take any steps against the interests of the people.

He made the remarks on Saturday (May 2) morning after laying wreaths at the graves of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia on the occasion of the founding anniversary of the Nationalist Workers’ Party.

Khan said that BNP is not worried about any law restricting political party activities, arguing that if any party behaves like a “fallen dictatorship,” legal action can be taken against them under existing laws. He added that any anti-state activities would be dealt with by law enforcement agencies, not political parties.

He further stated that the BNP’s role is to highlight alleged misdeeds of the previous Awami League government before the public, while maintaining that enforcement of law and order is the responsibility of the state.

Nazrul Islam Khan also confirmed that the BNP council will be held on schedule.
