Dhaka, Jun 11 (V7N) – BNP Secretary General and Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called on citizens to remain patient as the government works to restore stability and confidence in the country's economy.

He made the remarks during an exchange-of-views meeting with representatives of various ethnic communities at the BNP Chairperson's political office in Gulshan on Wednesday (June 10) night.

Mirza Fakhrul acknowledged that the country's economic situation remains challenging, noting that inflation has increased the prices of essential commodities and that investment growth has slowed, limiting employment opportunities.

"The current economic condition is not satisfactory. Inflation has pushed up commodity prices, while a lack of investment has affected job creation," he said.

Despite these challenges, the minister stated that the government is implementing long-term development plans aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of various ethnic communities across the country.

He said the government is taking necessary initiatives to enhance the living standards of people from all communities and create sustainable employment opportunities. According to him, special attention is being given to ensuring inclusive development so that all sections of society can benefit from future economic growth.

The meeting was attended by representatives of different ethnic groups, who discussed various development issues, socio-economic challenges and opportunities for greater participation in national progress.

Mirza Fakhrul reiterated the government's commitment to addressing economic difficulties through planned reforms and development programs, expressing hope that the country's overall situation would improve gradually with collective efforts and public cooperation.
