Dhaka, Aug 19 (V7N)- A writ petition has been filed in the High Court seeking the cancellation of the parliamentary seat of Abdul Hannan Masud, MP from Noakhali-6 constituency, over allegations that he concealed information in his election affidavit.

Nazmul Hossain, a resident of Hatia Upazila in Noakhali, filed the writ petition at the relevant branch of the High Court on Wednesday (August 19).

According to the petitioner’s lawyer, the writ petition will be heard by a High Court bench comprising Justice Razik Al Jalil and Justice Debashish Roy Chowdhury.

The petition seeks directives to the government, through the Secretary of the Law Ministry, to declare Abdul Hannan Masud’s parliamentary seat vacant and take necessary legal steps and immediate action in this regard.

The petitioner alleged that the MP concealed information in his affidavit submitted in connection with the election.

The High Court’s decision on the petition will determine whether further action is warranted regarding the MP’s parliamentary seat.
