Dhaka, Sep 15 (V7N)- Police have detained Khandakar Md. Azizul Haque Arju, a former Awami League lawmaker from Pabna-2, from the Lalmatia area of Mohammadpur in the capital.
He was detained at around 10:30 PM on Sunday (September 14) with assistance from local Chhatra Dal leaders, according to police.
Police said Azizul Haque Arju sustained minor injuries during a scuffle at the time of his detention. As he has a history of heart disease, he was taken to a doctor accompanied by family members and under police guard.
Authorities said further legal action would be taken following an investigation into the incident. The situation in the area is currently normal.
Azizul Haque Arju was elected as a member of parliament from the Pabna-2 constituency in 2014 on an Awami League ticket.
