Dhaka, Sept 17 (V7N) — Activists of the Jatiyatabadi Swechhasebak Dal (JSD), the volunteer wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), held a spontaneous protest march in Dhaka on Wednesday night against what they described as alleged acts of disorder and sabotage by the Awami League.
The march began in front of the BNP central office in Naya Paltan and proceeded through the High Court area, Doel Chattar and the TSC area of Dhaka University before ending at Shahbagh.
The procession was led by Nazrul Islam Noman, former general secretary of Dhaka South City Swechhasebak Dal and a joint secretary of the organisation's central committee.
During the march, protesters chanted slogans against the Awami League and its alleged associates. They also called for vigilance against what they described as attempts to create disorder and carry out acts of sabotage.
Asad Murad Talukder, former assistant international affairs secretary of the central Swechhasebak Dal committee, took part in the procession along with several other former and current leaders and activists.
Among those present were Oli Uddin Bablu, former convener of Paltan Thana Swechhasebak Dal; Asadul Islam, former member secretary of Chawkbazar Thana Swechhasebak Dal; Jewel Hossain, former member secretary of Shahbagh Thana Swechhasebak Dal; Delwar Hossain, former member secretary of Motijheel Thana Swechhasebak Dal; and Jamal Hossain, former member secretary of Paltan Thana Swechhasebak Dal.
The protest march ended at Shahbagh without any reported incident.
