Dhaka, Sep 29 (V7N)- BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has said those involved in acts of sabotage aimed at destabilising the country will be dealt with through legal and political means.
He made the remarks on Tuesday morning after paying tribute at the graves of former president Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on the 33rd founding anniversary of Zia Mancha.
Gayeshwar said the political situation had changed following the fall of what he described as an autocratic government, but alleged that some of its associates remained active.
He called on the administration to identify those involved in sabotage and bring them to justice, while stressing that law enforcement agencies have a responsibility to maintain public safety.
He also said BNP would confront such activities politically but would not resort to street clashes in the name of political activity.
According to Gayeshwar, attempts are being made in some places to create unrest and disrupt the country's democratic progress. He referred to reports of explosions and other incidents as examples of what he described as sabotage.
The BNP leader said his party's political activities would continue while protecting the country's independence and sovereignty.
He further said the government was not merely making plans but was implementing its programmes, while political forces and the people were continuing their efforts to move the country forward.
Gayeshwar urged the authorities to remain vigilant and take action against anyone involved in activities that threaten public safety or disrupt normal life.
