Dhaka, August 3— The Awami League has announced a series of programs in response to recent events, including gatherings across all wards of Dhaka and in all districts and cities nationwide on Sunday. Additionally, the party will hold a mourning procession from the Engineers Institution to Bangabandhu Bhavan at 3 pm on Monday.

The announcement was made by the party's General Secretary, Obaidul Quader, during a press conference at the Awami League president's political office in Dhanmondi on Saturday afternoon. Quader emphasized the party's intention to avoid confrontations, especially in light of current tensions and bad weather conditions. "We had scheduled programs on Friday and today (Saturday), but we don't want to engage in any actions that could lead to conflicts," he said.

The newly announced programs coincide with the observance of the birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal, son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on August 5. The party's gatherings on Sunday aim to unite members and supporters across the country, while the mourning procession on Monday will honor the memory of Sheikh Kamal.

The press conference was attended by several prominent Awami League leaders, including Presidium Member Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Joint General Secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and AFM Bahauddin Nashim, Organizing Secretaries BM Mozammel Haque, Mirza Azam, SM Kamal Hossain, and Afzal Hossain, Office Secretary Biplab Barua, Liberation War Affairs Secretary Mrinal Kanti Das, and Relief and Social Welfare Affairs Secretary Aminul Islam, among others.

These initiatives reflect the party's ongoing efforts to mobilize its base and address the current political climate in a manner that promotes unity and respect for historical figures. The Awami League's leadership urged supporters to participate peacefully and respectfully in these events.
