Dhaka, Sep 8 (V7N) – BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has stated that although the dictatorship of the Awami League has ended, ongoing conspiracies persist.

Speaking virtually as the chief guest at a rally in Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira on Sunday, Tarique emphasized that the BNP’s movement would not cease until democracy and the people's right to vote are fully restored.

He vowed to crush all conspiracies and restore democracy and the rights of the people with the backing of nationalist forces.

Tarique cautioned that certain political parties had issued statements falling into traps set by a “neighboring country” and urged BNP members to stay alert.

He further noted that both domestic and international actors were working to prevent the restoration of democracy in Bangladesh. “For over a decade, the people of Bangladesh have faced oppression, and the people of Kalaroa, Satkhira, have witnessed this firsthand. Through long-standing struggles, the nation has been freed from dictatorship,” he remarked.

Tarique emphasized the need for a government that represents the people, stating that the BNP has sacrificed many lives, endured enforced disappearances, and fought numerous legal battles to achieve this goal.

“Though the dictator has fled, the political rights of the people remain unfulfilled, and therefore, the struggle continues. The BNP’s movement will persist until a people's government is established,” he added.

Tarique urged the nation to take a firm oath to continue their efforts in restoring democracy.

Highlighting BNP's commitment to "development and production," he expressed the party's aim to unlock the potential of every region in Bangladesh and drive national progress.
