Dhaka, Sep 11 (V7N)- BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has accused remnants of the former dictator’s regime of spreading confusion and engaging in unethical activities under the BNP's name.
"The dictator has been overthrown, but his ghosts still roam, attempting to cause confusion. Some of them have been involved in unethical activities, misusing the BNP’s name," Tarique said during a virtual address to a public rally in Gopalpur Upazila, Tangail district, on Wednesday.
Speaking at a gathering held on the grounds of Suti VM Pilot Model Government High School, Tarique assured the crowd that the conspiracies would not succeed. He emphasized that democracy-loving citizens and loyal followers of BNP's founding figures, Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia, will resist and respond to these plots.
The rally was organized to demand the release of BNP leader Abdus Salam Pintu. Tarique highlighted the party’s dedication to securing political freedom and economic prosperity for the people, vowing that a BNP-led government would harness regional opportunities to promote development.
He reaffirmed BNP's commitment to development and progress, stating, "If we come to power with the people's mandate, we will unlock the economic potential of local areas for the betterment of the country."
In his concluding remarks, Tarique Rahman called for the release of all BNP and opposition leaders, including Abdus Salam Pintu, whom he described as being unjustly imprisoned under false charges.
BNP leaders Ahmed Azam Khan, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Tangail district BNP President Hasanuzzaman Shaheen, and Secretary Farhad Iqbal also addressed the rally, presided over by Gopalpur Upazila BNP President Jahangir Alam.
