Dhaka , Sep 16 (V7N) – Former State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, Mahbub Ali, was arrested by the Intelligence Police (DB) on Sunday night in connection with a murder case. He was taken into custody from Segunbagicha in the capital. According to sources, the arrest is related to a case filed at Jatrabari police station.

Mahbub Ali, who served as a Member of Parliament for the Habiganj-4 (Madhavpur-Chunarughat) constituency for two consecutive terms, will be presented before the court on Monday morning.

In addition to the murder case, the former state minister faces serious allegations, including money laundering, project irregularities, and amassing illegal wealth both domestically and abroad. These allegations are reportedly under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission's (ACC) intelligence unit.

Mahbub Ali had a significant political presence, first being elected to Parliament in 2014. He was re-elected in 2018, after which he was appointed as the State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism. However, in the recent 12th parliamentary elections, he was defeated by independent candidate Barrister Syed Syedul Haque Sumon by a margin of approximately 100,000 votes.
