Dhaka, Sep 21 (V7N) – Despite her return home from Evercare Hospital, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's health remains a major concern, according to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. Speaking to the press at Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office on Saturday, Fakhrul confirmed that her health had not significantly improved.

"Begum Khaleda Zia is still unwell, and her body temperature was elevated on Friday," he said.

When asked about the possibility of sending her abroad for advanced treatment, Fakhrul mentioned that her doctors currently deem her unfit for air travel, which has delayed her receiving medical care overseas.

Khaleda Zia, who had been hospitalized at Evercare for six days, was discharged on September 18 and returned to her residence in Gulshan. Though she was released from the hospital, she remains under close medical care at home, overseen by a specialized medical board led by Professor Shahabuddin Talukdar.

The BNP leader has been battling numerous health issues, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, and complications affecting her kidneys, lungs, heart, and eyes. Since her liver cirrhosis diagnosis in November 2021, her doctors have been urging that she be sent abroad for treatment.

On June 23, doctors successfully installed a pacemaker in her chest, and last year, on October 26, three US specialists performed a transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) procedure to manage fluid accumulation and liver bleeding.
